Two years old son of detained Okuama community leader, Chief Belvis Adogbo has died from unknown illness at Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The deceased son, known as Oghenevwegba Belvis Adogbo, 2, died probably due to the absence of his detained father that ought care for him.
It was learned that the little Adogbo was one year and five months old, when his father was arrested by men in military uniform in August 2024, over the murder of 17 military officers near Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Chief Belvis Adogbo was arrested by the Nigerian Army alongside, Prof Arthur Ekpepo, James Oghoroko who died in military detention, Dennis Okugbaye, Pa Anthony Ahwemuria, Mr Rita Akata and Denis Malaka, a tenant to the late Oghoroko at different locations between August 18 and 20 in 2024.
According to a family source, ‘Master ‘Vwegba fell sick and before he was rushed to the hospital, he died and that has brought a burden on the family members.
“Vwegba probably wouldn’t have died from the sickness if his father who is the bread winner of the family was around as he would have seek for proper medical attention for his late son.
“The continued absence of Chief Belvis Adogbo and other Okuama community leaders detained by the military is having harsh consequences on the various families and the community.
“I am calling on the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, our Senator and the UPU to prevail on the Nigeria Army to release our fathers and mother that have been under their captivity.” The family source pleaded.
